This is how you have never seen Ulriksbanen

From Saturday you can get to the top of Bergen’s highest mountain in just over three minutes.

The new track is faster than the old one, and not enough. The speed can be adjusted.

– We have the opportunity to adjust the speed depending on how many people are in line, and how fast we want people up. It is also nice to be able to drive a little slower when we can, so that people can enjoy the view, says daily camper in Ulriken 643, Amanda Haugland.

The speed and size of the gondolas that can accommodate 50 passengers can eliminate the queue problem, according to Haugland.

The large masts along the mountainside have previously been criticized for being too big

Restaurant operation all year round

The braided new gondola lift can withstand wind gusts of 80 kilometers per hour. This means that the operation at the top of Ulriken can be open all year round.

– It is gratifying that we can now have a Christmas table season, says Haugland.

When NRK visited on Thursday, there was little indication that the newly built restaurant was ready for the upcoming opening on Saturday.

It does not look like they will be ready by Saturday?

– Yes, we will. Now it’s all man to the pumps, laughs owner and board member of Ulriken 643, Christian Foss.

LAST INQUIRY: It says that some work before the opening on Saturday, but owner Christian Foss is sure that it will work.

‘Without a home again’: Jewish orphanage evacuates 300 children in Ukraine amid Russia invasion

On a night two weeks ago in southwest Ukraine, children inside a Jewish orphanage felt the ground shake and watched lights eerily flicker. Bombs were falling just a mile from their home, shattering their safe world and sending them fleeing into the darkness. The children, most in their pajamas and without shoes, rushed out of the orphanage and squeezed onto buses to make their way…
