There will be a new face in Moto3 at the next Grand Prix at Misano and Portimao. We are talking about Mario Suryo Aji , a young Indonesian driver born in 2004, active for three seasons in the category World Cup. In addition to having completed his third year in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. Considered one of the most interesting riders coming from the Asian country, he will now have the opportunity to make himself known internationally with the Honda Team Asia colors in these two confirmed participations. Not with his # 16 (already used by Migno) but on two tracks he already knows, an extra boost to make a good impression on the world stage.
Born on March 16, 2004 in Madiun (Indonesia), Mario Suryo Aji was pushed towards the two wheels by his father, a former driver and therefore a great fan of motors. Parent to whom the young rider was deeply attached and who passed away recently… But it was he who trained him since Mario was very young, and then enrolled him in the National Motocross Championship. Following the transition to road racing, a new personal challenge accepted with enthusiasm and always with the complete support of the whole family. Moved by a dream: to compete at a high level with Marc Márquez, who among other things he has recently revised.
In 2018, his first chance arrives outside Indonesia. In fact, we find him in the Asia Talent Cup and the Asia Road Race Championship, in which he impressed well, before moving on to the Mondialino Moto3, part of the ‘Asian rib’ of the Junior Talent Team project wanted by Dorna and Honda. In addition to finding him in parallel in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, two championships in which he is also active this year. In the Rookies Cup he finished 12th with a 5th place as best result, while still missing a round of the CEV before closing the season. He scored a historic pole position in Catalunya and came close to the first podium in the inaugural round in Estoril.
