Think of kilometers of pristine and deserted beaches, amazing beach communities and nature reserves with unique wildlife viewing opportunities. Florida has it all, and welcome!

As a Brazilian, of course, I tried to find the best beaches to help keep warm during the holidays. cold months. The list also includes places for nature lovers, families or couples. Crystal River, a unique Florida wildlife experience

Crystal River may not have the Disney name, but it’s as magical for a Florida winter getaway as a visit to Mickey Mouse. Why? Because when the waters in the Gulf of Mexico drop below 68 degrees, manatees (manatees) migrate to the crystal river’s pristine springs, just an hour and a half drive north of Tampa or west of Orlando. Not just one or two, but more than four hundred of these gentle and docile giants come to stay from December to March.

There are three ways you can find the manatees. The first is to see them from the coast at Three Sisters Springs. Another option is to visit the recovering manatees at Homosassa Springs State Park. But my favorite is to swim with them. The Florida Wildlife Commission has used these manatee encounters to help educate the public about these amazing animals.

The weekend is well worth it complete with a host of other attractions such as the mermaid show at Weeki Wachee, exploring the Rainbow River, eating fabulous seafood by the sea or simply enjoying the charm of a small, quaint Florida town. You’ll be glad you went, and even happier that you stayed.
