Rooney Mara (“Carol,” “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”) will star in and produce a biopic of iconic actress Audrey Hepburn for Apple Studios.
In addition, Oscar-nominated “Call Me by Your Name” and “Suspiria” director Luca Guadagnino is set to helm the project while Michael Mitnick (“The Giver”) is penning the script.
Plot details are under wraps so it’s not clear if this will be a full biopic, one of those “a week in the life of” style films (ala “Being the Ricardos”), or something else again.
Hepburn was both a dedicated humanitarian and an actress famed for numerous iconic films from rom-coms like “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “Sabrina” and “Roman Holiday” to the musical “My Fair Lady,” psychological thriller “Wait Until Dark,” romance mystery “Charade” and drama “The Nun’s Story” among many others.
Over four decades she achieved EGOT status – winning Emmy, Oscar, Tony and Grammy awards. Guadagnino recently wrapped work on the romance-horror tale “Bones and All”.
