THE ANGELES. Novak Djokovic will not appear at the prestigious ATP tournament in Indian Wells in October.
“We are disappointed that Novak will not be able to join us,” said Tommy Haas, director of the California tournament.
Djokovic has not played since losing in the US Open final to Russian Daniil Medvedev, who thwarted his 21st Grand Slam title and calendar Grand Slam.
In addition, he lost in the semifinals of the Olympic tournament with Alexander Zverev and subsequently did not manage the battle for bronze with Pablo Carreň-Bust. Olympic gold is the only big title that the Serb does not have in the collection yet.
The Serb has triumphed in Indian Wells five times so far – in 2008, 2011, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
The Indian Wells tournament will be played from October 4 to 17, for a pandemic coronavirus moved it from the traditional March term. Informed by AFP
