Samsung surprises with crazy foldables: does the near future look like this?

Folding will be crazier in the future: Samsung is working on these new foldables

In view of the increasing demand Samsung is confirming its efforts to use a foldable display for more and more products. As a foldable pioneer, you already have the know-how, after all, the presentation of the first folding cell phone from Samsung was almost three years ago. On February 20, 2019, the South Koreans presented the first generation of their Galaxy Fold smartphone. Now Samsung showed at the Consumer Electronics Show, CES for short, in Las Vegas with a number of crazy foldable prototypes how the development should continue. The plan: In the future, many products should even be able to be folded twice, which could make tablets much more compact than before. With the Flex S , which is the size of an ordinary smartphone, the screen can be opened twice like an accordion. This gives users a 13 inch display . The model is also available as an even more compact device, only four inches in size, for everyone who values smaller mobile solutions. Another highlight that Samsung has presented is the Flex G , in which both sides can be folded inwards to better protect the screen during transport. A holder for the S-Pen is also integrated so that the tablet can be used multifunctionally almost anywhere.

Laptop and tablet in one – Samsung’s large foldable version

Even more spectacular is a laptop with a foldable display : Samsung has a device called Flex Note , which can function as a 17-inch tablet when unfolded. If you fold it at right angles, it can be used like a twelve inch laptop with the help of a virtual keyboard.

Release of the new Samsung foldables is still a long way off

Currently, many of the Samsung’s foldables shown are still around prototypes or conceptual work. It is still unclear whether and when the devices will come onto the market and what they could then cost. Asus has already presented a similar laptop idea with the Zenbook 17 Fold , which is said to be available in stores in 2022. (Also interesting: The best laptops under 1,000 euros )
