Volleyball: Victory for Olympiakos in Giuliani's debut, 3-0 set by Filippos Veria

Olympiakos easily defeated Filippo 3-0 (25-08, 25-18, 25-15) in Veria and made an ideal start to 2022, which was also the debut of Italian coach Alberto Giuliani on his bench, holding the second place.

The face of the match was Costas Prousalis who as a passer of Olympiacos defeated the team that until a month ago was in its power. Apart from the mission from Olympiakos, it was Egkeskalns, Zoupanis started the main cross, while Papadopoulos also took time.

Filippos appeared with many changes and weakened. He entered the match very badly as he found himself losing 13-0 in the 1st set thanks to the service of Andreas Andreadis. The team of Veria managed to become more competitive in the 2nd and 3rd set but could not avoid defeat and stay at 3 points.

The difference in capacity was large as Filippos was presented with a composition of necessity but Olympiakos also played against its bad self. Olympiakos led 13-0 and easily won the first set 25-8 thanks to the efficiency in the counter attack and in the block.

Filippos led 5-4 in the 2nd set but Olympiakos with a series of 5 -0 was ahead 9-5 and later 14-7 with a series from Peric, Papadopoulos. Filippos reduced to 18-15 thanks to the two aces of Sonari and the point of Varvesiotis but with Charalambidis, Papadopoulos, Olympiakos ran the score and locked the set 25-18 with Charalambidis.

With a series of 5-0, Olympiakos escaped 12-5 in the 3rd set as well. Filippos did not have weapons to react, he made many mistakes and Olympiakos with the attack of Papadopoulos finished the match 25-15.

Comfortable victory for Panathinaikos in Heraklion

Panathinaikos won 3-0 (25 -17, 25-21, 25-18) OFI in Heraklion and continued its winning streak in 2022. The greens after the 8th victory in the championship remained at the top of the standings with 24 points, against 23 of Olympiacos and 22 of PAOK.

Panathinaikos was superior to OFI and won fairly. In the first two sets, Protopsaltis played as a key winger together with Raptis and in the 3rd set Andreopoulos took the place of the first.

The newly acquired American cross did not play from OFI as Costas Delikostas did not want to risks his early participation as he had only one workout on his feet. However, the team of Crete fought all the sets, followed the score but it was impossible to play a leading role and so it remained at 2 points in the standings and it is obvious that it aims at critical matches with teams that have the same goals.

The points of OFI came: 1 ace, 33 attacks, 3 blocks, 19 mistakes of opponents and Panathinaikos came: 8 aces, 38 attacks, 6 blocks, 23 mistakes of opponents.
