SANS has identified five cases of serious violations in obtaining Bulgarian citizenship against investment, according to the Ministry of Justice, which submitted the signals.

The Minister of Justice Nadezhda Yordanova believes that the MRF is late in submitting a signal under the procedures for the so-called gold passports. Already in the summer of 2021, the caretaker Minister Prof. Yanaki Stoilov informed SANS about a total of 47 cases in which there are suspicions that the law has been violated.

This is more than 50% of all the procedures that have ended with the issuance of a “golden passport” decree since 2013.

The Ministry of Justice recalls that a bill has been drafted to revoke citizenship against investment . It is expected to be considered at the next government meeting.
