The chip crisis is thinning out the range of VW electric cars. The cheapest models are no longer available.
The Lack of chips forces the largest German car manufacturer to reduce its range. In Germany, the cheapest model of the VW ID.4 was therefore removed from the range.
“Due to current delivery bottlenecks of semiconductors, which are part of numerous components of our vehicles, it may be the case with some of our model variants come to significantly longer production times,” says the German Volkswagen website, if you opens the configurator for the ID.4.
There appears the ID.4 model with 52 kWh battery and 109 kW motor not more on. The offer is now starting with the ID.4, which is equipped with a 125 kW motor and costs at least 35,345 euros.

In Austria the models with the 52 kWh battery are also not available. In this country, VW only offers ID.4 models with a 77 kWh battery . The cheapest ID.4 with a 77 kWh battery and 150 kW motor is available in Austria from a price of 48,890 euros.
It looks similar with the VW ID.3. The cheapest model was removed from the configurator a few weeks ago. Since then, the basic Pure version with a 45 kWh battery has no longer been available.
Both in Austria as well as in Germany the ID.3 offer starts with the model that has a 58 kWh battery installed. In Germany, a price of at least 40,340 euros can be expected.
