Ranking: estas son las diez aerolíneas más seguras del mundo

Each year the specialized portal Airlines Ratings makes a list of the safest airlines in the world. Since the pandemic appeared, the company has incorporated health measures and contagion statistics into the index to determine which are the most reliable companies.

What variables are analyzed to know if an airline is safe

The portal analyzes 385 companies based on factors such as the history of tragic accidents in the last 5 years and records of other less serious accidents in two years , results of government audits, international organizations and manufacturers; initiatives within the industry to improve safety, average age of its fleet and anticovid protocols.

It should be clarified, says its chief editor Geoffrey Thomas, that “airlines have incidents every day and many are aircraft manufacturing problems, not operational problems of the companies. It is the way the flight crew handles incidents that determines whether an airline is safe or not”Los protocolos contra el Covid-19 son una de las variables que se analizan, pero no son la única.

Which is the safest airline, according to this ranking

With all these filters, Airlines Ratings determined that the safest airline to fly in 2022 is Air New Zealand.

Its arrival on the podium, the editors indicate, takes into account the merit that the company operates in some airports with extreme weather conditions, and that it reaches remote sites that require great expertise on the part of its crews.

Its technical innovations also stand out and its fleet has an average age of 6.8 years.

The first place in this ranking is held by Air New Zealand

What are the innovations of the safest airlines

The list of the safest airlines continues with Etihad, who rose to second place thanks to actions such as the use of the IATA application to simplify health documentation for travel.

In third place is Qatar Airways, which, although it fell one position compared to last year’s ranking, was the first airline to incorporate contactless technology in its entertainment screens a board.

Fourth place is again for Singapore Airlines, which had already been crowned the best airline in the world according to Skytrax on several occasions.

In fifth place is TAP-Portugal, which in turn rises to first position in the list of European airlines.

The decline of Qantas

In the sixth is SAS, the Scandinavian company that rises 10 positions thanks to its absence of incidents and the health protocols it put in place.

Qantas, which had been the winner of the 2021 list, falls to seventh place due to an incident that occurred at Perth airport in 2018, when a B737 left its runway and was close to colliding with a similar aircraft that was about to take off, describes Airlines Ratings.

The investigation of this event was only published at the end of 2020, so it was only included in the list relative to last year.

Alaska Airlines is in eighth and triumphs among the safest companies in the US, and the Top10 closes with the Taiwanese Eva Air (down 3 places) and Virgin Australian.
