Aruba, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Dominican Republic , Egypt even if limited to the tourist areas of Sharm El Sheikh and Marsa Alam. Here are the first “Covid free” routes with which we will try to relaunch tourism outside Europe. Those who fly to these destinations will no longer be forced to quarantine after returning from vacation. But in addition to the green pass in your pocket, you will also need to have a negative buffer both on departure and on returning to Italy.

Green pass and buffer obligation

For these first experimental tourist corridors – others will follow – identified by the Ministry of Health, there will be no need for fiduciary isolation upon return to Italy. To fly to one of these extra-EU destinations without quarantine obligation, the circular signed yesterday by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza provides that in addition to having the green pass in your pocket, you need to carry out a molecular or antigenic swab 48 hours before departure from ‘Italy and undergoing a further test “on arrival at the national airport”. In addition, if the stay in the foreign country is “equal to or greater than seven days”, a test to be carried out at “mid-stay” will be required to be presented upon boarding.

Stay in “safe facilities”

For these trips, the “stay in accommodation facilities selected according to specific health safety measures suitable to guarantee – reads the circular – that the services used are rendered in compliance with the rules and precautions for the prevention of the risk of contagion “. Attached to the circular are in fact some protocols: the one on accommodation establishes, among other things, that the staff is fully vaccinated, that there are distancing measures and the use of masks in the preparation of meals and in all occasions of “interaction with customers “(from reception to spa) while restaurants must adopt timetables” to avoid overcrowding “. There must also be a doctor available 24 hours a day.

Breath of oxygen for tour operators

Just yesterday the Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia had called for the opening of the first Covid-free tourist corridors to offer a breath of fresh air to travel agencies and tour operators “among the sectors most affected” during the pandemic. Until now, the return of Italian tourists to these locations was also limited by the provision of the quarantine obligation upon their return from these destinations. An obligation that has instead been abolished for European destinations. The circular also provides for a table to be set up at the Ministry of Health to monitor the application of the measures. The other protocols attached to the circular also include that relating to the obligations for “air carriers” and “airports” and those relating to “excursions abroad” to “transfers abroad”.
