The creation of an innovation laboratory and the defense of a more inclusive and diverse Brazilian Bar Association in Rondônia were the highlights of the hearing with Márcio Nogueira, pre-candidate for the presidency of the OAB/RO, held this week at Casa Juntos Pela Advocacia.

At the event, which was attended by important names in the Rondônia law firm, Nogueira explained the innovation laboratory project that will be implemented in the OAB/RO if elected president of the entity in the elections scheduled for November. The proposal was launched after the questioning of Giovane Veloso Marinho, 69, one of the most experienced lawyers in Rondônia, who will complete 40 years of law practice next year.

“I always say that technology is not our enemy, so we need to use it to our advantage. Even more so with the pandemic, we will have the before and after. At the Innovation Laboratory, we will be able to exchange information with colleagues and promote specialization courses aimed at the specific needs of each niche of the law”, said Márcio Nogueira.

Leader of the Together for Advocacy Movement, Márcio also spoke of the changes needed to build a more participative and integrated Order in society. “It is necessary to have an OAB with more participation of women, blacks, indigenous people, people with disabilities, LGBTQI+, the elderly, that is, of all the law professionals in Rondonia”, she said.

TRANSFORMATIONS IN OAB/RO

The hearing with Márcio Nogueira was conducted by renowned state lawyers, representing different areas of practice in the law. Everyone was able to question the pre-candidate about the proposals of the Movement Together for Advocacy – which has the support of important names such as the current president of the OAB/RO, Elton Assis, and the federal counselors of the OAB Andrey Cavalcante and Alex Sarkis.

The respected criminal lawyer Maria Eugênia also questioned the candidate and was pleased. “It was not for nothing that I decided to support the movement. We have everything to improve the inclusion of women, blacks and so many other classes of the law firm in Rondonia”, he said.

The young indigenous lawyer Ganinga Surui , who works in Buritis, also made a point of attending the meeting of the Juntos Pela Advocacia Movement. “I didn’t know Márcio Nogueira personally. I really liked your proposals on diversity. With him in the presidency of the Order, we will be very well represented.”

For Márcio Nogueira, the hearing was an opportunity to expand the dialogue with the category and reinforce the plurality feature of the Movimento Juntos pela Advocacia, crucial for the construction of a new OAB in Rondônia.

“Our proposal is to carry out, in a collaborative way, the necessary transformations in the Order. For this, it is always necessary to actively listen to the entire law firm”, he defended. “With the hearing, we were able to clarify our ideas to our professional colleagues, who will certainly help us to trace new paths for our profession in the state of Rondônia”, he concluded.
