A 23-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman, who said pastors of an evangelical church, were arrested in Feira de Santana, a city 100 kilometers from Salvador, capital of Bahia, suspected of keeping five children in private prison and for rape of a vulnerable person.
The case took place on Wednesday (26), when the pair were arrested by police officers from the Police Station for Adolescent Offenders (DAI). The Ceará Public Security Secretariat (SSP-CE) reported that the two are mother and child.
DAI de Feira de Santana received information from the Civil Police of Ceará, after a complaint from the Guardianship Council of the Ceará city of Cruz, which pointed out that a woman and her children went to Feira de Santana, where they were held in private prison.
In the municipality of Bahia, the family, in addition to being in a situation of false imprisonment, was mistreated by people who were pastors of a church.
According to the head of DAÍ, delegate Danielle Lima Matias dos Santos, the children’s mother said that she received the promise of a “a quieter life” and who trusted the duo.
“The children’s mother informed in a statement that she was convinced to come from the state of Ceará to Feira de Santana, for trusting these people who called themselves pastors and promised a quieter life than the one she had in Ceará, as well as help spiritual”, said Danielle Santos.
According to the SSP-CE, the family is assisted by the Reference Center of Social Assistance (CRAS). The children are between 8 and 14 years old.
The Cruz Tutelary Council discovered the case after the family contacted with the agents via application message and report that he was in a situation of mistreatment, in Bahia.
The victim couldn’t pass on information about her location, but sent a photo of a vehicle’s license plate. It was from there that the investigations of the Civil Police of Ceará began and the civil police managed to reach the family’s whereabouts.
Rape of Vulnerable According to the Civil Police of Bahia, the man is suspected of raping one of the victims, who is 12 years old.
“He was having sexual relations with a 12-year-old child. We called the Feira tutelary council to welcome the victims”, said the delegate.
The delegate of the city of Cruz, Júlio César Chiarini, informed that the teenager, who was the oldest among the girls, was being induced, by the religious, to marry the man. However, the girl’s mother refused to sign documents that consented to the marriage.
After the decision of the girl’s mother girl, the girl was locked in a room with the suspect, where she was raped. Also according to police information, the other children were forced to work and were assaulted by the suspects.
Both the man and the woman were taken to the police station, where they were heard. They underwent forensic examinations at the Technical Police Department (DPT) and remain in custody at the disposal of the Justice.
) The SSP-CE reported that the man also had his arrest in the act converted into preventive. The victims were welcomed by the government of Bahia.
“The family was welcomed and supported and we are taking steps to ensure that return to Ceará”, reported Júlio César Chiarini.
