Two first sets fought point to point, the first escaped 30-28 with some regrets after not having achieved three sets following the comeback from 22-17 to 23-24, the second won 23-25. A third and a fourth set almost always chasing, suffering the initiative of the hosts and losing much more clearly. Thus ends with a 3-1 defeat the away match of Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76 against Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio .
Marco Musso’s team gets a well-deserved victory, while Giulio Cesare Bregoli’s girls are saddened by not having repeated the performance of the first round and not being able to continuously counteract the Lombard initiative, putting pressure from their service.
MVP of the day is Stevanovic who scores 15 points, of which 7 on the block. On the bust side, the 29 points of Gray also stand out in the match report with a stellar 70% positivity in attack, and the 24 of Mingardi. On the Chieri side, the best scorers are Grobelna (19) and Frantti (13). Also noteworthy are the 2 points of Karaoglu who, having entered the second set, makes his debut in biancoblù and positively closes both attacks made.
THE CHRONICLE
First set – After a hard fought start slightly favorable to Chieri, Busto Arsizio takes the lead for the first time on 7-6 (Gray) then taking a full-bodied break from 9-9 to 14-9. After the two time-outs of Bregoli, the biancoblù are back to moving the score thanks to a guest invasion. After the entry of Perinelli for Frantti on 16-11 for half a rotation Chieri begins to gnaw points, from 22-17 to 22-19, and above all from 23-24 thanks to the shots in the front line of the returning Frantti and Cazaute. Bosetti cancels Chieri’s first set ball who then gains two more with Cazaute and Grobelna, both failing. Busto gets his first set point at 28-27: Grobelna cancels it. At 28-28 an excited exchange ends in favor of the Lombard who close with Gray. In the following action a goal infringement, confirmed by the videocheck, ends the set 30-28.
Second set – The set is in mostly a tight point to point, with the two teams always arm in arm, never spaced apart by more than one point, now the prerogative of one hour of the other. On 20-20 Ungureanu’s network service and Mazzaro’s first half give Chieri a break. It is the decisive tear: without being caught again, the Bregoli girls close 23-25 at the second set ball on Stevanovic’s long serve.
Third set – Weitzel, who entered in the middle of the previous stage in place of Alhassan, is confirmed on the field in place of Alhassan. The set is immediately channeled in favor of Busto who quickly moves to 6-2. Bregoli changes the diagonal by inserting Karaoglu (absolute debut for her) and Bonelli, but the inertia remains favorable to the Lombard. The hint of comeback from 15-8 to 15-11 on Mazzaro’s service is the only favorable phase for Chieri. Musso’s team then returns to lengthen and to the sound of walls it imposes itself smoothly 25-14, precisely with a wall by Stevanovic on Grobelna.
Fourth set – Immediately behind by a couple of lengths, Chieri remains in contact with Busto until 9-8 and, suffering, until 16-14. Here Stevanovic and Gray dig an unbridgeable furrow. In the final, the gap continues to grow and Musso’s team closes 25-16 on the first match ball with Olivotto.
THE COMMENT
Kaja Grobelna : « Compared to the first leg we played worse. The beginning was difficult, we had to find a little rhythm, after we played a little better but in my opinion we didn’t serve strong enough: with their fast play, it became very difficult for us to defend. Bust played very well, congratulations to them “.
