Daniel Boulton, 30, admits that he killed his ex and her nine-year-old son.
But he denies that he murdered them.
– He claims that he suffers from a form of mental illness that impairs his ability to exercise self-control, says prosecutor Katherine Goddard according to BBC .
Daniel Boulton, 30, began a relationship with Bethany Vincent, 26, in March 2019, but the relationship soon deteriorated. Bethany reported Daniel Boulton to the police in November 2020 for being violent towards her.
Despite a court order that he was not allowed to contact Bethany, Boulton sent almost 900 Facebook messages to her the weekend before the attack where he threatened to “wipe out her entire family.”
On May 31, 2021, Boulton walked nearly 50 miles from his home to Bethany’s home in Louth, England. He then killed Bethany and her nine-year-old son Darren.
“I know I’m evil”
Boulton then left the house and stayed away for 24 hours before being arrested. The police used tasers against Boulter in the arrest after one of them was stabbed in the leg by him.
– I know I’m evil, Boulton said after being arrested.
He has admitted that he killed Bethany and her son, but denies the allegations of murder.
– There is no dispute that he stabbed them two victims, but he claims that he suffers from a form of mental illness that impairs his ability to exercise self-control and form rational judgments, says prosecutor Katherine Goddard.
The trial against Daniel Boulton , who risks life imprisonment if convicted of double murder, is still ongoing.
