Welcome to Bleacher Report’s coverage and recap of AEW Rampage on February 11.

Britt Baker battled Robyn Renegade in a non-title bout, but Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus put the tag belts on the line against Austin and Colten Gunn.

After being confronted by his former trainer, QT Marshall, the young Superstar known as Hook battled Marshall’s alledged top student, Blake Li.

Last but not least, Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta took on Nick and Matt Jackson. Let’s take a look at everything that happened on Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage.

Trent and Nick started for their teams with a quick exchange, but it didn’t take long before Nick found himself dealing with Romero outside the ring, too.

Matt tagged in and his opponents took turns hitting him back and forth like they were volleying a ping pong ball. They continued to control the pace against the Bucks with some good double-team spots.

The Bucks suckered them up the ramp to hit superkicks in an attempt to get them counted out, but Romero made it back at the last second to save the match.

Orange Cassidy went under the ring and when the Bucks tried to pull him out, Danhausen appeared and distracted them so Romero and Trent could hit suicide dives.

We returned from a break to see the Bucks in control. They mocked the huge done by Best Friends before Romero took them both down with a hurricanrana at the same time.

Sue’s son tagged in and took it to both opponents with a barrage of high-impact moves. All four men went back and forth in the ring trading big spots until the Bucks won with the BTE Trigger. Jay White ended up coming out to dispatch Cassidy after it was all over.

    Grade: A-

    Analysis

This match started out like any other tag team bout, but as time progressed, all four men picked up the pace to make this a potential Match of the Week performance.

The outcome was slightly predictable but how they got there was a ton of fun. Romero might have been the MVP but all four guys deserve credit for making this entertaining.

The Danhausen cameo was funny and did not ruin the flow of the match. Throwing comedy into the middle of any match is a risk but at this point, Best Friends have proved they can do it well.

Baker and Renegade locked up and traded some basic holds and counters. After DMD had the upper hand for a moment, Renegade began to build some momentum.

She missed a running double knee in the corner, so Baker yanked her down by her hair and stomped her into the mat as we went to a break.

The dentist punished Renegade during the commercial, but she began to make a comeback when we returned. She hit the double knee she attempted earlier and climbed to the top rope for a frog splash to score a near-fall.

Baker hit a fisherman’s neckbreaker followed by the Stomp for the win. Thunder Rosa tried to help Renegade when Baker kept attacking, but Jamie Hayter and Mercedes Martinez helped Baker get the upper hand.

    Grade: B

    Analysis

This was Renegade’s Rampage debut, so it would have been easy to understand if AEW had booked this to be a squash for the champion, but that is not what happened.

Baker made Renegade look like a competitive fighter who had a real chance to defeat her at different points. They worked well together to make this an entertaining performance.

Marshall accompanied Li to the ring for his match against his former student, Hook. They circled each other before Hook scored the first takedown with a go-behind.

Li went for his leg but Hook dropped down and almost had him locked in a submission before he grabbed the bottom rope. Hook cornered him to deliver some strikes.

Hook flipped out of a hip toss and hit a gutwrench suplex. He threw Li with his arm before putting him in a submission. Marshall distracted him so he would release the hold. This allowed Li to hit a back elbow.

Hook easily avoided a crossbody and posed for the crowd before hitting a crotch-lift suplex. He hit a few crossfaces before locking him in the Redrum for the win.

    Grade: B+

    Analysis

Every time we see Hook wrestle, he shows us something new. The way he has been used in his AEW run so far has been spectacular.

Eventually, he is going to have to prove he can deliver a promo, but for now, we get to enjoy seeing him throw other dudes around.

This wasn’t much of a match when it came to how competitive it was, but that was by design. This was a glorified squash and it accomplished its goal. Let’s hope he gets to face someone who will push him a little harder in the near future.

The main event was a tag title match between Jurassic Express and the No. 1 ranked Gunn Club with Austin and Colten being accompanied by their dad, Billy Gunn. Christian was there to support Jurassic Express, too.

Austin and Jungle Boy opened with a fast-paced sequence that saw both men get in some good shots. Luchasaurus tagged in and went after both ass boys at ringside.

We returned from a break to see the Gunn boys in firm control of Jungle Boy. Luchasaurus got the hot tag and went wild with big strikes to both opponents.

Billy watched as his sons took a series of hard shots from the powerhouse. Jungle Boy stopped them from retreating and sent Colten back in to take a chokeslam and a moonsault from Luchasaurus.

Jungle Boy accidentally hit Luchasaurus with a suicide dive when Austin moved out of the way. Christian prevented him from using the ropes for leverage during a pin, so Billy slammed Christian’s head into the steps.

Colten hit Jungle Boy with one of the belts while the ref was distracted, but he only scored a two-count. After rallying, Jungle Boy was able to get the win for his team to retain the titles.

    Grade: B+

    Analysis

While this didn’t quite reach the levels of excitement we saw in the opening tag team match, this was a fun and competitive title bout that gave the Gunn Club a chance to shine outside of Dark and Elevation.

We all know how good Jungle Boy is but it feels like Luchasaurus does not get enough credit for what he brings to the team. He moves so well for a guy his size that he ends up looking better than some of the smaller guys when he does things like standing moonsaults.

Rampage continues to deliver an hour of solid wrestling every week. This is a good formula for AEW, so hopefully it continues to work this well.
