After coup in Guinea: rebel leader sworn in as president

General Mamady Doumbouya says he wants to reform the constitution and the electoral system

Conakry – After the military coup in Guinea, the rebel leader, General Mamady Doumbouya, was sworn in as president on Friday. In a ceremony at the country’s Supreme Court, Doumbouya assured that neither he nor any other member of the military would vote in future elections. According to Doumbouya, the rebels want to work out a new constitution, reform the electoral system, take action against corruption and initiate free and transparent elections.
