The current “Star Wars: Ahsoka” series is nothing if not full of fan service – especially in some of the tiny details many won’t notice.
The series is laced with numerous easter eggs and references – not just to the obvious like the “Star Wars: Rebels” animated series, but more recently the video game “Star Wars: Jedi – Fallen Order” and its recent sequel “Star Wars: Jedi – Survivor”.
In those games you follow Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan) as he travels the galaxy to various planets. These include Dathomir, the home of the Nightsisters. You also learn about an ancient civilization of Force-wielders known as the Zeffo.
The last two episodes of “Ahsoka” have ended up on the planet of Peridea, another ancient stronghold of the Nightsisters in another galaxy. In the first of these two episodes, a scene features several characters on a balcony watching Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) ride away.
That balcony is covered in hieroglyphs and, “Star Wars” fans being “Star Wars” fans, some such as Tommyjwall@X (via Collider) have put in the work and translated them. They learned the hieroglyphs are in an old Sith language and uses the phrase “(P)RAISE KUJET RULER OF ALL MAY HIS REIGN LAST FOR AL…”
In the games, your character visits the tomb of Kujet who is one of three leaders of the Zeffo who turned to the Dark Side and moved to Dathomir. Thus “Ahsoka” cements a link between the Nightsisters and the Zeffo, and indicates that members of the Zeffo actually reached Peridea at one time.
As Collider speculates, this may tie into Baylan Skoll’s true motivation on Peridea – that “something stirs” there, a power that he’s trying to obtain.
What’s really not clear right now is how the series intends to wrap up everything it has to finish within the finale. Multiple plot threads need to be closed, others will no doubt be left open to serve as set-up for Dave Filoni’s upcoming Mandoverse team-up film.
We’ll find out how it all goes down when the “Ahsoka” finale airs this coming Tuesday night on the Disney+ service.
