Alexander Volkanovski is currently a champion without a fight.
Just days after a mouthwatering trilogy was announced between himself and Max Holloway for March 5, Holloway was ruled out of action after aggravating an injury. As such, Volkanovski was left without an obvious contender, despite a number of fellow 145-pounders putting their name forward as potential step-ins.
At first, it seemed as if ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung was in pole position to receive the opportunity to step up, with Volkanovski taking to social media to specifically challenge the veteran.

This morning, however, “The Great” threw out a curveball for fans.
Posting a simple picture of himself eating with the caption, “Lightweight baby!” appears to show the champion bulking up ahead of a step up in weight.
Could it be a wind-up? Or could Volkanvoski really be preparing to test himself in a new division?
