Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev stated that the financial package envisaged by the EU for Armenia and Azerbaijan is unfair and said, “We should be given the same amount of money as Armenia will be given. Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev made statements to the local media regarding the agenda. Stating that Armenia did not learn from the Second Karabakh War, Aliyev said, “Therefore, it is a very difficult situation. “WE HAVE MAYBE ONE HUNDRED TIMES MORE REASONS FOR NOT RECOGNIZING ARMENIA’S SOIL INTEGRITY”
Emphasizing that Azerbaijan has presented the agenda of the peace agreement to Armenia, Aliyev said, “We made very clear suggestions on the determination of borders. As you know, Armenia did not respond at the first stage, it said neither yes nor no. This shows once again that the Armenian administration does not have a clear vision for the future. We suggested that the two countries recognize each other’s territorial integrity, start working on the determination of borders, start the process of opening communication channels and sign a peace agreement. In other words, the signing of a peace agreement is not a one hundred percent guarantee, but in any case, it greatly minimizes the risk of war,” he said. that any peace agreement can be just a piece of paper for Armenia. Now, whether it is signed or not, as I said, we will and should always increase our military power. If they do not want to recognize our territorial integrity, we will not recognize their territorial integrity. Perhaps we have a hundred times more reason to deny the territorial integrity of Armenia than they do not accept our territorial integrity. Because everyone already knows this and the world public also knows that In November 1920, our historical homeland, Zangezur, was taken from us and given to Armenia, and likewise, Göyçe, the city of Yerevan, on May 29, 1918 was given to Armenia. So, as they say, we have many factors not to recognize the territorial integrity of Armenia. Nevertheless, we are ready for this in the name of future peace and establishment of relations between countries. But I can’t guarantee that it will be the same after 6 months. They don’t want it, it’s okay, then we’ll see what happens.
Referring to the problems in the OSCE Minsk Group, Aliyev said, “Recent events between Russia and the USA, Russia and the European Union show that this only form of cooperation between these countries will not be formally maintained, but in such a consolidated manner. Therefore, we must first clarify to ourselves how much the Minsk Group co-chairmanship corresponds with the realities of the time, is it necessary to change the co-chairmen, because the Minsk Group does not consist of only these three countries. These three countries, in fact, have, to be honest, isolated the rest,” he said. All other organizations that do so are blocked. I know this for sure. As far as I know, there was a big scandal in the Minsk Group in 2005 when we succeeded in making a resolution condemning the occupation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In other words, the attempt to completely monopolize the process, excluding not only other actors but also members of the Minsk Group, leaves them only statisticians. In that case, the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides should explain their stance against it. These first two points do not exist yet. Therefore, there is nothing to talk about in principle. When it comes to experience, experience is a good thing, but only if it’s a positive experience. That’s why I think they need to find something, they need to come to a decision”.
“LACIN CORRIDOR UNDER OUR CONTROL”
Referring to the illegal visits of Azerbaijan to Khankendi without permission, Aliyev said, “Russia has been officially condemned by us many times for such illegal visits. Both our Minister of Defense (Zakir Hasanov) sent letters to his counterpart and the head of the peacekeeping force was scolded and the same steps were taken regarding the last illegal visit of Valeri Pekress.
