In the only Tuesday game of the Alps Hockey League, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice won 5: 2 at the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. The table leaders took a two-goal lead in the first third and celebrated their eighth win in a row .
After the 4: 3 win after extra time against Linz on December 30th, Sterzing played the first game of the new year against Jesenice. The home side had to do without Paul Eisendle and Daniel Erlacher, but could still play with four lines. For the league leaders Ziga Kogovsek guarded the goal, for Jure Sotlar it was the duel with the ex-club. Both teams initially looked for the way on the offensive. Sotlar and Salo tested WSV goalie Rabanser, and in the fifth minute Stojan finally took the lead. But the home side had an answer ready: Lucas Chiodo made a direct pick-up to 1: 1 and thus scored a goal for the Broncos in the second game. But only two minutes later, Ulamec regained the lead. It got even better for the Slovenes, Elo used the first power play to make it 1: 3. In the middle section, the guests acted from a safe defensive, Sterzing hardly got any chances. Jesenice waited patiently for opportunities and Pance increased to 1: 4 in the 37th minute. Just 28 seconds after the restart, a Gschnitzer hit brought the home side hope again. But the leader of the table was again strong in the majority and Saso Rajsar scored to make it 2-5. Jesenice celebrated their eighth win in a row.
