An investigation has been launched against Djokovic in Spain

Authorities in Spain have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the arrival of Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic in the country at the end of last year.

World number 1 was in Marbella, arriving on 31 December. On January 3, he flew from Dubai to Melbourne, where his visa was revoked.

On arrival, he provided false information that he had not traveled in the last 14 days before coming to Australia. Djokovic admitted the mistake, apologizing to his administrative assistant for making the mistake of filling out the declaration.

From September 20 last year upon entering Spain, Serbian citizens must present a vaccination certificate, which Djokovic does not have because he is an opponent, or a medical exemption document. According to Cadeno Cope, the Serb did not show either document, nor did he seek assistance in issuing the second from the Spanish embassy in Belgrade or the foreign ministry.

It is now clear how he was admitted to Spain. There are also tensions around him in Serbia after it became clear that he had violated quarantine rules after his positive coronavirus test was released on December 16th. This is also acknowledged by Djokovic.
