) World No. 3 Stefanos Tsitsipas reveals that he may miss Australian Open due to an elbow injury. In November, the Greek tennis player underwent surgery on his right elbow due to a problem that has plagued him for some time.
Tsitsipas participated in the ATP Cup team competition in Sydney, missing his first singles match, but today he played against Argentine Diego Schwartzman, losing in a contested match 7-6 (5), 3 -6, 3-6. After the match, the finalist from Roland Garros 2021 admitted that he was experiencing “serious pain” in his elbow.
“I believe I have enough time to recover for Melbourne. But I have not had such an injury so far, so I do not know. This is the first time I am going through such a thing,” commented Tsitsipas after the loss to Schwartzman. The Australian Open starts on January 17.
