Antisemitic graffiti sprayed on Winnipeg community centre

For the second time in the span of a month, a Winnipeg community centre has been hit with hateful graffiti.

Brent McNeil, the president of the Westdale Community Centre, said the centre was hit this week with several images of a swastika.

This comes after the front doors of the community centre were tagged with a similar image a month ago.

McNeil told CTV News it isn’t just the centre that has dealt with this issue, as other buildings in the area have been targeted on multiple occasions over the last month.

The graffiti has sparked the Manitoba premier and Winnipeg mayor to condemn what happened.

Premier Wab Kinew said on X this is an act of hatred.

“We must honour the survivors of the Holocaust and live up to our global commitment of ‘Never Again’ by calling out those voices of hatred who use the images of that dark era in human history such as in this incident,” Kinew said in the post.

Meanwhile, Mayor Scott Gillingham said, “There is no place for such hatred in Winnipeg.”

Winnipeg police said they have received several reports and are “actively investigating.”
