The Resolution of the Collegiate Board (RDC) 570/2021 amends RDC 335/2020, which already brought advances to the population’s access to these products by defining criteria and procedures for importation by individuals.

The high demand for importing the products also culminated in the optimization decision, since, according to the agency itself, the delay in the authorization of Anvisa may impact on the health of patients. In six years, there was an increase of more than 2,400% in the number of orders, which corresponds to an average growth of 400% per year.

In a note, the regulator explained that, now, the registration for import will occur “through a simplified analysis in the case of products derived from Cannabis contained in the Technical Note issued by the Controlled Products Management of Anvisa and published on the portal of the Agency.”

In addition, the agency is also working on the update of the systems, in order to add an automatic way to approve recurring products in a pre-defined list.

The expiration date of the medical prescription has also been changed, now going to six months. However, the standard provides that the product’s prescription will have an indefinite validity until the publication of a normative document by the Ministry of Health that recognizes that the situation of Public Health Emergency of National Importance is no longer configured.
