CNI and Sebrae will reward the best innovation practices of companies of all sizes and innovation ecosystems. Winners will be announced in March of next year
Sebrae and the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) extended the deadline for applications for the 7th edition of the National Innovation Award, considered the most important initiative to recognize and encourage the practice of innovation in the country . With this, companies interested in participating now have until November 16 to enroll. Information and the application form are available on the Award website.
The National Innovation Award is held by Sebrae and CNI, sponsored by the Financier of Studies and Projects (Finep) and is intended for industrial companies, small businesses of all sectors and ecosystems of innovation throughout the national territory. Companies will compete in the categories of Product Innovation, Process, Sustainability and Innovation Management. The Award also has a category to recognize innovation ecosystems. Companies wishing to register in this category must answer an additional questionnaire. In addition to these groups, companies compete for recognition for innovative practices in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), which may be awarded to a finalist company in each modality.
The technical director of Sebrae, Bruno Quick, highlights the importance of the Award for small businesses: “This Sebrae and CNI initiative contributes to dispel the myth that innovation is something restricted to the universe of large companies. We have proven that innovation is also a practice of the little ones”. Over the six editions already held, the Award recognized the work of micro and small companies that managed to develop innovative practices in their processes.
To the Innovation Director of the Confederation National Industry Association (CNI), Gianna Sagazio, this is an important moment for the recognition of the work that has been developed by the companies. “This is a showcase for companies to show their role in the development of research, technology and innovation. We want to make public to Brazil and to the world the good practices that have been developed by companies, especially in this period of pandemic”, he highlights.
The evaluation of the entries will be made between November 22 and January 11, 2022. The 1st panel of judges will take place on the 15th January 2022 and the 2nd panel is scheduled for the second half of February of the next year and the awards ceremony will take place on March 8.

The National Innovation Award is aimed at for industry, with the exception of small businesses, which may be in the industrial, commerce, service or agribusiness sectors. The award does not evaluate projects, but the capacity of companies and ecosystems to innovate, therefore, it is not necessary to register a specific innovation project for each category. The company applies only once and the methodology identifies its adherence to the categories. The registration of innovation ecosystems must be made one for each municipality in the country, and the assessment methodology will fit into one of the modalities.
