The Namur Assize Court continued Friday the trial of Xavier Van Dam, accused of kidnapping, rape, and murder on Wivinne Marion, on November 1, 2018 in Namur.

On November 18, 2012 at around 5 am, Xavier Van Dam broke the garage door to enter a house located 5 houses from his place of residence. The victim explains: “My husband had gone to work. I heard a creak on the stairs and stood up. I smelled a smell of cigarettes in the house, but no one in our house smokes. I went to my boy’s room and then to my daughter’s. He was against the closet door, masked and gloved. He hit me on the forehead and I screamed, I fell. He kicked me while I was on the ground. My daughter woke up. “
The victim continues:” He ran down the stairs. I locked myself in with the children, blocking a door with a dresser. I jumped out of the 3 meter high window and asked my children to follow me. »
Van Dam’s neighbor remains traumatized by this experience. “I don’t know what he wanted, he didn’t steal anything and I’ll probably never know. He was arrested on Sunday morning and released in the afternoon. We were followed by a psychologist. We had to rebuild ourselves, our children went to the child psychiatrist. After the fact, we were paralyzed, because he lived 5 houses away. ”For these facts, Van Dam was sentenced to a 120-hour work sentence in 2015, for home invasion and assault and battery leading to incapacity.
He also benefited from the suspension of the pronouncement for acts of sale of cannabis and was convicted on two occasions for acts of taxiing: non-compliance with the limitations and driving while intoxicated and hit and run.
