Baltic countries send US-made anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons to Ukraine. The Czech Republic will deliver artillery ammunition to Kiev

Baltic states – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania – will supply US-made anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine, defense ministers from the three countries said in a joint statement on Friday night, Reuters and AFP reported. Czech Defense Minister Jana Chernochova also announced that she would propose to the Prague cabinet to approve the delivery of artillery ammunition to Ukraine, according to Reuters.

“In the light of increasing Russian military pressure in Ukraine and the region, the Baltic countries have decided to respond to Ukraine’s needs and provide additional defense assistance,” the joint statement said.

“This aid will strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend its territory and population in the event of Russian aggression,” the statement added. ) At the same time, the Czech Republic chose 152 mm ammunition from the list of supplies requested by the Kiev government. She said more details would be provided after the cabinet validated the proposal on Wednesday.

Estonia will send Javelin anti-tank missiles, and Latvia and Lithuania Stinger anti-aircraft missiles

“We sincerely hope that Ukraine will not have to use these weapons,” said Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anusauskas.

The US State Department has allowed Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to send US-made missiles and other weapons to Ukraine, three sources with knowledge of the decision said on Wednesday.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Friday that several deliveries of security assistance to Ukraine are scheduled for the coming weeks.
