BAM signs £35m deal for Sunderland secondary school

The project at Allendale Road in the St Chads area of the city includes the partial demolition of existing school buildings, excluding sports facilities, and the development of a replacement school building, indoor swimming pool block, car parking and hard and soft landscaping.

Early works are getting underway shortly. BAM will build a new three-storey main teaching block to the south of the site and a new swimming pool to the north.

Although the existing sports hall and multi-use games area will be retained the project involves additional sports facilities such as dual use pitches/running track and on-site parking.

Rebuilding will be a phased development to ensure that the school remains fully operational during the works.

Once complete the project will provide places for over 1,000 pupils and 140 full time staff

BAM is due to complete the Farringdon Community Academy project in September 2025.
