The new work is described as “dedicated to humanity in the era of technology and looking back on the strangeness of life in an era that feels like science fiction.”
The album, which delves into both the opportunities for new technology and the negatives of living online, and also includes Riz Ahmed’s spoken word, came up before the pandemic. However, frontman Dan Smith said he gained a new dimension in the lockdown.
“At the end of the day, when everyone stays home and is nailed to the screen, it can sometimes be difficult to determine what is real and what isn’t. We’ve been working on these songs, “Dan Smith said in a press release. “We live in an era of terrible fake news, where world leaders lie, but we can be anyone online. This has a huge and fascinating effect on our ego and relationships. It’s also. “
