Don’t think that you’ve won, because new cast members, the opening / ending theme song performers, a new key visual, and the Japanese broadcast details have all been revealed for the upcoming second season of The Demon Girl Next Door (known in Japan as Machikado Mazoku 2Chome), an ongoing TV anime adaptation based on the supernatural comedy manga by about a high school girl who awakens to her family’s dark powers and accidentally befriends her sworn enemy, the local magical girl.
The new cast members include:
Ayasa Itō as Lico.
And Takashi Matsuyama as Shirosawa Tencho (“Shop Manager Shirosawa”).
The opening theme for the series, entitled “Tokimeki Rendezvous” (“Pitter-patter Rendezvous”), is performed by shami momo, a voice unit composed of Yuko “Shamiko” Yoshida (CV: Konomi Kohara) and Momo Chiyoda (CV: Akari Kitō). The ending theme, entitled “Yoi-kagen Tetragon” (“Just Right for Early Evening Tetragon”), is performed by Colo Machikado, a voice unit composed of Shamiko (CV: Konomi Kohara), Momo (CV: Akari Kitō), Lilith (CV: Minami Takahashi), and Mikan (CV: Tomoyo Takayanagi).
The original The Demon Girl Next Door manga is published in Japan by Houbunsha in their Manga Time Kirara Carat seinen manga magazine. An English language version is available from Seven Seas Entertainment. HIDIVE currently streams the first season of The Demon Girl Next Door and describes the story as follows:
Yuko Yoshida is just an ordinary schoolgirl — until Lilith unleashes her dormant, devilish powers. Now Yuko must defeat Momo Chiyoda, the shrine maiden of the Light Clan who just so happens to go to her school!
The Demon Girl Next Door is directed by Hiroaki Sakurai and features animation production by J.C. Staff. The second season of the series will broadcast in Japan on Tokyo Broadcasting System on Thursdays during the 25:58 time slot (actually on Friday morning at 1:58am JST) beginning on April 07, 2022, and on BS11 on Fridays during the 23:30 time slot beginning on April 08. 2022.
