The Santa hat-themed French manicure is the perfect easy-to-do nail design that’s been spotted on none other than Beyoncé – and it couldn’t be easier to copy at home with the help of a couple of trusty tools that you may already have lying around.

In one of her latest posts on Instagram, Beyoncé gave fans a sneak peek at her Christmassy nails, and its safe to say we’re obsessed with the minimalist, chic twist on a holiday-themed manicure.

The design itself is based on a classic French manicure with a nude base, but rather than the traditional white tips, it instead swaps them for a red dangling Santa hat design complete with white trim and pompom, making them not only super cute and festive, but easy to do yourself.

To start with, apply a nude base to each of your nails in a shade that matches either your skin tone or the natural shade of your nail bed. You can even opt for a clear base coat, like the Artistic Colour Gloss Rubber Gel Base Coat – Clear, was £26.95 now £22.91 here, which has a rubber base that bends with your nails to prevent snapping or splitting.

Next, the fun bit – the Santa hats. For those who want a little more control over their artwork, a nail art pen is absolutely the way to go. You can use this Lipstick Red Mani Marker Nail Art Pen, £5 here, which gives you more precision and stability, to create your design, or any regular red nail varnish that you already have will do.

You’ll also need a white nail varnish or nail art pen, like Nails Inc’s Bright White Mani Marker Nail Art Pen, £5 here , to do the hat’s trim and details.

To create the design, start with your white polish or pen, and simply swipe the pen or nail polish brush along the tip of your nail to create a smooth arc just like a regular French Manicure. You’ll need to go slightly further down than you usually would for a tip, as this will create the ‘fluffy’ white trim on the hat.

Once dry, take your red, and paint over the white tip, making sure you leave a band of white visible at the bottom. You can also use the beauty blender French tip hack to speed up the process, by painting some nail varnish onto an old beauty blender and pressing the tip of your nail into it to create an instant curved tip, just like this TikTok video from Lights Lacquer explains.

Then take a finer brush, or your pen, and paint a red dangling point hanging down one side of your nail. Finish off with a dot of white on the end, and voila – one super quick and easy Santa hat manicure just in time to get into the Christmas spirit.
