(Beta) – Great Britain today welcomed the sanctions imposed by the United States on the Serbian member of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, and others in that country.

British Foreign Secretary Liz Tras said that corruption, which is the main reason for imposing sanctions, is “a threat to freedom, democracy and peace in BiH.”

“The United Kingdom welcomes targeted US sanctions against those responsible (for corruption). We continue to work with allies to support Bosnia and Herzegovina and freedom in the region, “Tras said on Twitter.

She shared with that message the tweet of the American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that the State Department and the US Ministry of Finance imposed sanctions on BiH officials due to corrupt and destabilizing activities.

The US Ministry of Finance announced yesterday that it imposed sanctions on Dodik in response to his corrupt activities and continuous threats to the stability and territorial integrity of BiH.

The target of the sanctions of the Ministry of Finance was the Alternative Television from Banja Luka, because , as stated, “owned or controlled by Dodik, or by action or intent to act for or on behalf of Dodik, directly or indirectly.”

The State Department announced yesterday that it has imposed sanctions on the former president of the High Judicial and of the Prosecutorial Council of BiH Milan Tegeltija and the President of the Movement for Democratic Action Mirsad Kukić, for “involvement in significant corrupt activities”
