Got halved the fine after quarantine breach: – We feel heard.
Was set for 10 days
The woman was indicted by the Oslo District Court for violating the Infection Control Act, which at the time of the incident said that everyone who arrives in Norway from areas with a quarantine obligation will be quarantined for 10 days. The woman arrived at Gardermoen from the USA when her husband travels a lot with work. The trip to Norway was necessary as one can not stay abroad for more than six months without reporting a move, and thus lose benefits from NAV. She and the children were also to visit the family in Norway and were to be there from mid-May until well into July.

The woman was aware of the rules that were introduced a week before she left, and was willing to follow them. The woman and children were immediately sent to quarantine hotels. She left the hotel for health reasons that have recently been documented. Poor humanitarian conditions were also mentioned as one of the reasons for the choice to leave the hotel.
Perceived bad conditions
According to the woman, the hotel room was not thoroughly cleaned after the previous occupant. There was also not enough fire alarm, as there was a bag attached over the alarm. The food was bad, boiled potatoes, boiled peas and beans and nothing else were served for dinner. One of the children also had a food allergy, which made this extra demanding. Extra bread was requested, but they were told to fix it themselves. The alternatives to the hotel food were, according to the staff, to buy their own food at Kiwi or McDonalds which were nearby.
