Bureaucratic reshuffle: 9 secretary-level changes

Pankaj Jain has been made the new Petroleum Secretary in a bureaucratic reshuffle that saw nine secretary-level appointments. Jain, a 1990 batch IAS officer, has been serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of Financial Services.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Leena Nandan as the Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change. Nandan, a 1987 batch lAS officer of UP cadre, is currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

Rohit Kumar Singh, currently serving as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Culture will take over as Secretary, Department of Consumer Affairs in place of Nandan.

Sanjay Kumar Singh has been appointed Steel Secretary. He’s currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances and Department of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare.

V. Srinivas, currently Special Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, will take charge as Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances and Department of Pensions & Pensioners Welfare upon Singh’s departure from the ministry.

Vini Mahajan will shift from her cadre to take over as Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Manoj Joshi, currently Special Secretary in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, has been appointed Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs. He will take over as Secretary in the ministry upon superannuation of Durga Shanker Mishra at month-end.

Rajeev Ranjan, the Special Secretary in the Department of Expenditure, has been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Backward Classes in the rank and pay of Secretary.

Bharat Lal, currently Additional Secretary in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, will be the Secretary to the Lokpal after the incumbent Brij Kumar Agarwal’s term comes to an end on December 31.
