Caleb Williams’ transfer decision is still hanging in the balance but Wisconsin has apparently emerged as a challenger to LSU and USC.
The wait for Caleb Williams to pick his transfer destination dragged on on Tuesday with some new information stirring things up.
The former Oklahoma quarterback who had reportedly narrowed his choices to LSU and USC is considering another surprise option from the Big 10.

Wisconsin is vying for Williams’ transfer, according to Gerry Hamilton of On3.
The Badgers have Graham Mertz returning after throwing for 1,958 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2021. Williams outpaces him as a quarterback prospect so it’s safe to say his arrival would come with a starting gig opened up for him.
There is an apparent connection between Williams and Wisconsin. Head coach Paul Chryst is reportedly on track to hire Ravens tight ends coach Bobby Engram as offensive coordinator. Engram’s son, Dean, is a cornerback on the team. He was a high school teammate of Williams.
Williams’ father has indicated that NFL development is the primary factor for the quarterback making his decision. While Engram doesn’t have experience developing NFL quarterbacks, he does come directly from the pros.
USC is in a precarious position with Williams since the deadline to enroll in the spring semester is on Jan. 28. If he doesn’t pick the Trojans before then he won’t be able to participate in Spring Camp.
Wisconsin’s classes begin this week but the deadline to enroll extends nine weeks into the semester, theoretically allowing Williams to delay a decision as late as March.
