In case you didn’t know, until now, Japanese studios have always preferred to develop for the consoles, leaving the PC in the background, almost always a little distant.
Interestingly, Capcom is one of the great examples of this strategy! After all, for many (even many!) years, the Japanese giant decided to release versions always a bit tricky for the PC (weak ports), this when it didn’t totally forget about the existence of the platform.
However, in recent times, things have changed a lot! To the point that Capcom currently wants the PC as the main development platform.
- (Special) PC Gaming or Laptop in 2021? The big question!
Capcom wants PC as the main platform!
So it seems that Capcom has giant ambitions for the PC, after all, the Japanese giant wants to put the PC as the main platform, in order to make this platform mean 50% of all revenues in 2022 or 2023. But is this really possible?
It is undeniable that the PC is growing a lot, but 50% for the PC and 50% for the other platforms? This seems a bit impossible, especially in Japan, where the vast majority of gaming is done on consoles or smartphones. Why this line of thinking? Well… Most likely due to the success of Monster Hunter: World, which is the studio’s most successful game, which of course sold a lot more for the PC, compared to consoles.
Still, it seems like a rather strange bet! Nothing better than waiting to see what will happen.

Since I was very young I was interested in computers and technology in general, I had my first PC at age 10 and at age 15 I built my first tower, never since I stopped. Whatever technology is, I’m in the front row to find out more.
