Warner Home Entertainment has announced that the one and only “Casablanca” will be making its way to 4K UHD disc and 4K digital on November 8th in time for its 80th anniversary.
The new release was restored and remastered by Warner Bros. Motion Picture Imaging from a 4K 16-bit film scan this year of the best-surviving nitrate film elements.
The 4K-scanned digital images then went through an extensive digital restoration process to clean and repair the picture, along with being graded in High Dynamic Range.
The result is an unprecedented and pristine ultra-high-resolution presentation. The original theatrical mono audio has also been newly restored as well, offering a richer and broader frequency response than previously possible.
Extras include two commentary tracks by Roger Ebert and Rudy Behlmer, an introduction by Lauren Bacall, a 1988 PBS special, a 1992 TEC documentary, several featurettes, deleted scenes, outtakes, radio broadcasts, newsreel, multiple WB cartoons and more.
