Centenary of the Battle of Anoual: the post office issues a commemorative stamp

Symbol of the anti-colonial struggle, the celebration of the Battle of Anoual will be marked this year by the program a postage stamp.

On the occasion of the centenary of the battle of Anoual, the Barid Al- group Maghrib has decided in partnership with the High Commission for Former Resisters and Former Members of the Liberation Army, to issue a postage stamp to commemorate the centenary of this glorious battle.

Property of the High Commission for Former Resisters and Former Members of the Liberation Army, this new program reproduces an artistic work, illustrating the battlefield of Anoual. It also contributes to the celebration of an important event in the history of the Moroccan resistance.

The special program “ Centenary of the Battle of Anoual (1921-2021) ”enriches the philatelic collection devoted to the themes of resistance, the King’s revolution and People and Independence (the 30 th
, 40 th , 50 th and 60 th anniversaries of the “ Revolution of the King and the People ”In 1983, 1993, 2003 and 2013 respectively). Also, we can quote the 1
er
and 60 th
anniversaries of Independence in 1957 and in 2015 and the “ National Day of the Resistance ”in 2010.

The battle of ‘Anoual, which took place on July 21, 1921, is one of the main stages in the series of national struggles against foreign occupation led by the glorious Alawite throne, in defense of national constants. Symbol of the anti-colonial struggle, the victory of a small troop over the Spanish army in Anoual, marks the beginning of the Rif war, which will last for a good five years.
