The two individuals, whose names cannot be made public due to a publication ban, were each charged in connection with the death of a seven-week-old infant boy at an address on Winthrop Private. Police said in a media release Monday afternoon that the specific charges were also guarded by the publication ban.

The infant died on Oct. 26, 2021, police said.

Police said the charges followed a 16-month joint investigation between the homicide unit and sexual assault and child abuse (SACA) investigators.

In a media release, police said the case involves “the tragic death of one of the most vulnerable members of our community.”

The two accused appeared in court Saturday and were remanded into custody.
