Chinese online retailers are making huge strides in attracting customers in Korea thanks to their rock-bottom prices.
According to IGAWorks Marketing Cloud on Tuesday, the most downloaded smartphone app here in the second half of this year was clothes shopping platform Temu.
Pinduoduo, a popular Chinese online platform, opened Temu in the U.S. in September of last year. It boosted its market share in China by targeting low-income households with ultra-cheap clothes and accessories and is using the same strategy overseas.
Most of clothes cost less than US$10. Temu was downloaded 3.88 million times in Korea, surpassing Instagram (3.36 million downloads).
