Chelsea’s season went from bad to worse on Sunday as they were beaten 4-2 by Wolves at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues took an early lead through Cole Palmer, but found themselves behind at the break after a Matheus Cunha strike and an Axel Disasi own goal.
Much to the frustration of Mauricio Pochettino, the visitors extended their lead in the second period, with Cunha completing his hat-trick before veteran defender Thiago Silva grabbed a consolation goal for the hosts late on.
The result leaves Chelsea 11th in the Premier League table, with Wolves leapfrogging the West London outfit after their victory.
Next up for Pochettino’s side is an FA Cup fourth round replay against Aston Villa on Wednesday night, but in the meantime it has emerged that the Londoners are plotting a move for a Bundesliga striker.
According to TEAMtalk, the Blues are interested in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko is a target for both Chelsea and Manchester United
The 20-year-old forward is the latest striker to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Pochettino looks to bolster his front line, with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic having also been touted as possible targets in recent months.
Sesko joined Leipzig from RB Salzburg last summer, having scored an impressive 29 times in 79 games for the Austrian club.
Since moving to Germany, the youngster has netted nine times in 26 games for Leipzig across all competitions.
The report claims that Sesko has a release clause of £42.7 million in his current contract, whereas Osimhen would likely cost in excess of £100 million.
Newcastle United and Arsenal are also said to be interested in the Slovenia international, who has scored ten goals in 25 matches for his country at senior level.
Current Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, signed from Villarreal last year, has struggled so far during his debut season in England, while both David Datro Fofana and Armando Broja are currently out on loan – at Burnley and Fulham respectively.
