Manchester City will face Italian side Inter Milan in the Champions League final after cruising to a 4-0 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday.
With the two sides having drawn 1-1 in the first leg, an early brace from Bernardo Silva put Pep Guardiola’s side in a commanding position at half-time at The Etihad.
An own goal and a calm Julian Alvarez finish extended their advantage over their Spanish counterparts after the break, and the Citizens will now face Inter in the final in Istanbul next month.
Inter defeated rivals AC Milan 3-0 on aggregate to book their place in the final, with Lautaro Martinez scoring the only goal of Tuesday’s second leg at the San Siro.
Now, it appears that AC Milan could be closing in on the signing of a Premier League midfielder.
According to Fabricius Romanthe Serie A champions are making progress in their pursuit of Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Romano claims that Milan are currently in talks over a potential deal, having identified the Englishman as a key target as they look to bolster their midfield ahead of next term.
Loftus-Cheek, 27, is a product of Chelsea’s fruitful academy but has largely played a bit-part role throughout his time at Stamford Bridge.
The England international, who can play in a number of roles across midfield and even in defence, has made a total of 152 appearances for the Blues across all competitions.
In that time, he has scored 13 goals and provided 18 assists, as well as winning five trophies including two Premier League titles and the Europa League.
Loftus-Cheek has made 30 appearances across all competitions this season, being used in a number of positions across midfield and at right wing-back.
The midfielder has spent time on loan at Crystal Palace and Fulham in recent seasons, but it appears that he could now be departing Stamford Bridge permanently.
It is claimed that the player himself is keen on the idea of a move to Italy, and negotiations are said to be progressing well.
