Officers from the Met have made two arrests and recovered a large amount of drugs as part of an operation targeting criminal activity in south London.
Police carried out searches at ten residential properties in the Thornton Heath area on the morning of Thursday, 20 January.
They recovered a quantity of cocaine and heroin along with more than £10,000 in cash.
A 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of Class A drugs, possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and money laundering. They remain in custody at a south London police station.
Inspector Stephen Warnes, from the Safer Neighbourhoods Team in Thornton Heath, said: “Today’s operation was the result of acting on information from the local community who raised concerns about drug dealing in the area.
“Tackling violent crime and the supply of drugs is a top priority for the Met, which includes targeting the drivers which fuel it.”
Anyone with information or concerns about drug supply in their local community can call police on 101 or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymous on 0800 555 111.
