College Football Playoff bracket: Updated schedule, results, scores for 2024 CFP games

The first ever 12-team College Football Playoff is here, as a dozen programs compete to decide this year’s national champion.

The schedule in 2024 is very difference to that of year’s past, however, as teams will have to win three or four games in order to win the top prize. Additionally, for the first time ever, there will be playoff games played on college campuses, adding an extra element to the postseason.

Will No. 1 Oregon win it all in the Ducks’ first Big Ten season? Can star running back Ashton Jeanty lead No. 3 Boise State to greatness? Or will an underdog like No. 12 Clemson make a splash in the postseason?

Ahead of this year’s College Football Playoff, Sporting News breaks down everything there is to know about the 12-team bracket.

Here’s a look at the full bracket for the 2024 College Football Playoff:

First round

How was the CFP bracket determined?

This year’s College Football Playoff is comprised of five conference champions and seven at-large participants. The four highest-ranked conference champions each earned a bye, and the remaining eight teams were seeded by their spot in the final College Football Playoff rankings.

Additionally, teams will not be reseeded in later rounds, so each team’s path to the championship game is determined by the initial bracket.

TV Channels, live streams for the College Football Playoff

The majority of these games will be broadcast on ESPN and streamed on ESPN+ and Fubo. In the first round, two ESPN games will also be simulcast on ABC, while two will be broadcast on TNT and streamed on Max.

When does the College Football Playoff end?

  • Start Date: Dec. 20, 2024
  • End Date: Jan. 20, 2025

The College Football Playoff will span exactly one month, with the first game taking place on Friday, Dec. 20, when Notre Dame host Indiana in the first round. After three rounds of the Playoff, the National Championship will take place Monday, Jan. 20, when two teams will meet in Atlanta.
