Complete Dose Vaccination Doesn't Guarantee to Prevent a Spike in Covid-19 Cases, Learn from These 3 Countries!

TREATMENT Talk to the Task Force for Handling Covid-19, Prof. Wiku Adisasmito appealed to the public to continue to be vigilant and careful with the threat of a new variant of Covid-19 called Omicron. Because this variant is able to spread very quickly indiscriminately.

Prof. Wiku explained that currently there is data showing that the full-dose Covid-19 vaccination coverage does not in fact guarantee an increase in cases. Therefore, the public should learn from several countries with high vaccine coverage, but currently facing an increase in cases.

“As an example The United States (US), which currently has 61 percent vaccination coverage, has experienced an increase in positive cases and deaths of Covid-19,” said Prof. Wiku in a press release ‘Development of Handling Covid-19 in Indonesia’, Tuesday (21/12/2021).

Not only the US, several countries that have higher full-dose vaccination coverage are still experiencing spikes in Covid-19 cases. These countries include Norway with a complete vaccination coverage of 71 percent, and South Korea with the highest vaccination coverage reaching 92 percent.

In addition, changes in the characteristics of the Omicron variant also have the potential to exacerbate the global pandemic situation. However, this condition is still being studied further.
