Conan the Barbarian is nothing if not an experienced traveler. As creator Rober E. Howard famously wrote, Conan is destined “to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet.” Conan’s travels are now taking him to publishers Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures, which have become the new home for the franchise after its latest stint at Marvel. A new, monthly Conan the Barbarian series is on the way, and IGN has an exclusive preview of the first issue.

Get a closer look at the new series in the slideshow gallery below, including several newly debuted pages of lettered interior art:

The new Conan the Barbarian series is written by Jim Zub and drawn by Roberto De La Torre, both of whom previously worked on Marvel’s 2019 Conan the Barbarian series. The book also features colors by Jose Villarrubia, while the lineup of variant cover artists includes Mike Mignola, Dan Panosian, Patch Zircher and Artgerm.

The new series aims to give readers a fresh entry point into Conan’s world (not that it’s generally difficult to dive into the Hyborian Age). The series opens as a battle-weary Conan returns home to Cimmeria, only to be confronted by a scout warning of a grave new threat. Can Conan and his new ally stand against these fearsome invaders, or has the mighty barbarian finally met his match?
