The contracting sector in Saudi Arabia contributed 6% to the Kingdom’s gross domestic product (GDP), Ahmad AlAboudi, Head of Organization Affairs at the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA), said, noting that the sector is valued at SAR 255 billion annually.
The number of companies in the sector reached 170,000, of which establishments as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) represented 98%. The total number of workers reached 2.9 million, of which Saudis represented 15%, AlAboudi added in an SCA statement to Argaam.
Moreover, almost 30 public and private entities are operating in the sector.
AlAboudi also underlined the importance of partnerships with chambers of commerce, contractors and other stakeholders to achieve SCA’s goals.
