A Coreia do Sul de Paulo Bento garantiu nesta terça-feira a presença no Mundial 2022, após bater a Síria por 2-0 na oitava jornada da terceira fase de qualificação asiática.
Em jogo realizado no Dubai, casa emprestada pelos sírios, Kim Jin-su inaugurou o marcador aos 53 minutos e Kwon Changhoon fechou as contas ao minuto 71.
Esta será a 11.ª presença da Coreia do Sul em Mundiais e décima consecutiva. Em 2002, quando co-organizou a prova com o Japão, ficou em quarto lugar, sendo esta a melhor campanha da história do país.
A Coreia do Sul lidera provisoriamente o Grupo A de apuramento apuramento com 20 pontos, mais do que o Irão, que também já está apurado e ainda vai defrontar nesta jornada os Emirados Árabes Unidos.
Numa altura em que a Seleção Nacional ainda luta para estar presente no Qatar, Paulo Bento torna-se assim no primeiro português a garantir bilhete para a mais importante competição de futebol do planeta.
