Con el fin de impulsar el sector salud en la entidad, el mandatario regional Jehyson Guzmán dio inicio al Plan de Esterilización Quirúrgico, bajo la mediación de la Corporación de Salud del estado Bolivariano de Mérida.
La jornada especial se desarrolló en la Sala Materno de Ejido «Fidel Febres Cordero» del Municipio Campo Elías, donde fueron atendidas 12 mujeres.
El director de Gestión Médica Administrativa de Corposalud, José Ángel Ferrer, manifestó que este tipo de operativos se realizan a los fines de evitar embarazos no deseados, y mantener el control de la natalidad entre la familia.
Asimismo, dijo que estos actos quirúrgicos obedecen al programa de Salud Sexual y Reproductiva, que lleva de la mano el gobierno regional a través de la Corporación de Salud.
